One Beat, Two Beats Poem by Amethyst Lixie

One Beat, Two Beats

Rating: 5.0

One beat, two beats
My heart pounds against my chest
And I'm on the verge of tears
There's a grip on my neck
I can't breathe.
I can't see
Stuck in this constant loophole
Grabbing hold of my soul
And refusing to let go
I need light
A refuge
Someone come to my rescue
I've trapped myself in this box
Trapped with the infuriating sound of ticking clocks
One beat two beats
My heart pounds harder
You still don't see me
I don't want to be a burden
But I'm afraid if I stay quiet
I'll wind up dead
It's a desert in my head
It's empty
There's only darkness in here with me
And slowly it feeds
On my fears and my tears
Pull me out
Please.
One beat.
It slows down
Why?
Help me I'm suffocating
Help me I'm resonating
I'm sobbing
I'm angry
I want out!
Help me. See me.
No beats...
It's quiet
Where'd my heart go.
Hello?
She's gone
