Addiction Poem by Sarah Maples

Allot of people seem to belittle those
that are so called 'druggies'.
But what most people don't understand
is addition isn't just a minor habit
that you can throw out the window.
It is considered a disorder.
People fight their own thoughts everyday
because of drug addictions.
Addiction is characterized by
compulsive engagement rewarding stimuli,
despite of the horrible consequences
also known as withdraws.
People grow a tolerance for drugs
which causes them to depend
on them day by day.
These so called 'druggies' don't need
to be belittle, made fun of, or talked about.
They need support, motivation,
and most of all help from a friend.
