Survivors' Fire Poem by Cassiel Smith

Survivors' Fire

The broken ones, they might say, are the ones you should be the most afraid of.
They walked the night with no light and found the way on their own.
Flayed by their demons and battled with the inner strife.
And now, gradually, they rose out of the depths to rejoice in life.

They know the darkest depths of sadness, the burdens of misery.
However, they decline to survive in despair.
And while in the depth of their despair, they discovered.
That is where the strength lies, and should be earned.

They realize they are able, for they have been tested.
Through challenges and struggles, they've evolved.
Their scars are the testaments of won battles.
A reawaken of the grit they own.

Therefore, walk wisely around those hurt souls.
They have done more than that: They have slain their fears and achieved their dreams.
They feel the fire inside, flashing hot.
A symbol of hope during the darkest hours.

Such people certainly represent a threat, don't they?
Nonetheless, their might and their courage shall win them the victory.
They'll do it, just like the phoenix does, rising from the ashes, soaring.
For they know they can survive, and so much more.
