River Bank Poem by Ashlee T

River Bank

Rating: 5.0

We laughed and enjoyed ourselves along the river bank.
Not a care in the world, our minds are free from the strain.

Nothing could break our joy until the shots.
The panic filled my body.

Trying my best to shield others, I failed to shield myself.
I will never be able to shield myself from that memory.

That day, on which one river bank ended with trauma.
It ended with screams, sirens, blood, and tears.
