Nothing's New Poem by Chisom poetry

Nothing's New

Rating: 5.0

Have you ever been in love with something so evil
To cherish it was like a prayer to the devil
But you cannot escape its sweet embrace
Paying no mind how fleeting its touch felt
Leaving you in a pool of regret and pain
Another day to reap the fruits of this illness called love

Have you ever craved something so impure
To want it like, the dry earth wants a taste of rain
To be ready to give up a piece of your soul for minutes of pleasure
Only to let it leave you in the hole of shadows
Filled with the echoes of laughing demons
Watching them mock your fragility again and again

Have you ever been saved from the cage of eternal damnation
Feel the graces of the almighty
Be freed from the tight grip of the darkness
To experience love without having to lose your salvation in the process
Skipping through life in the path of righteousness
Finally, you are no longer bound

Or so you thought
To have it watching you with a mocking smirk
Knowing you were just a puppet in whose strings he loosened
He owned you and will only drag you back at his own will
He will have you on your knees at his feet
Pleading for his love

Caressing your tears-stricken face
He will remind you that nothing was new
You both are and forever will be
A sin and its favorite sinner
