'Let My Voice Be Heard'🗣️ Poem by Samuel Bassey (Samco)

'Let My Voice Be Heard'🗣️

Rating: 5.0

Amid the great minds, I wished to be among
My request was declined they said, I didn't belong
Truly life can be mean when surrounded by lovers and haters
But I never knew I'd find myself at the centre

They say chickens don't cry at night but at dawn
Why then must a human cry day and night still nothing is being done?
Even a king is respected despite not sitting on the throne
Yet he still suffocates others because they are not his own

They say we rise by lifting others
But after rising they lift only brothers
I don't aspire to be on top
But only want my corn to pop

Despite the echoes of my voice
Many still claim it's a noise
I'm not asking for bread
Just requesting for my voice to be heard.
