Empathy Poem by Victor Geld

Empathy

Rating: 5.0

The little dignity all man possess_
He had shoahed it from within himself,
His feet ploughed through the dusty road
His head hung from his neck in shame;
The tears in his eye gave him a cold stare,
An icy energy of remorse pierced the air_
It snuffed off any sense of normalcy,
We all felt our worlds collapse,
He had brought this upon himself
He had brought this upon us all
And we were left to shoad for what was left,
How could we blame him
When his face described to us,
A feeling of emptiness and loss
Do we offer a hand or do we turn away?
We were certainly too afraid to understand
The weight of his burden, too much to bear,
Even for those who might not have cared
Will we ever know each other's pain?
