Silent Hours Poem by Larry Phil

Silent Hours

Rating: 3.8

In the silent depth of night's embrace,
Where shadows dance with tender grace,
The hours stretch, an endless space,
And time itself seems to slow its pace.

The stars above, in quiet array,
Whisper secrets of the Milky Way,
Their light is a guide for those who stray,
In the contemplative play of night's ballet.

The moon, a silent sentinel aloft,
Casts a glow on fields soft,
And in this hour, so still and oft,
The heart speaks truths that are whispered not.

For in the night, our sorrows find reprieve,
In the hushed hours, we silently believe.

I like the title. I give you *** stars. I also see that you have some EXTREMELY short 'poems', so short that I'm reluctant to label them poems, BUT they save readers time. bri ;)

Also, I notice you (and some other poets) have begun EACH line with a capital letter, and ended EACH line with a comma; that is not MY preference, but it works ok here.

(continued) I don't usually speak 'Archaic'. I 'have trouble with' 'oft' and with the MEANING OF the last stanza, ....though the rhyme is fine.

Larry, I question your use of 'oft'. 'Definitions from Oxford Languages · Learn more oft /ôft, äft/ adverb archaic, poetic/literary, or jocular form of often. 'an oft-quoted tenet' ' (cont.)
